Emotional attachment is contingent on how much one is conditioned to think about themselves and it’s this constant thinking of “I” that doesn’t really provide much of a benefit.
The true addiction of our society is to our thinking and when you are the main subject of that thinking, it makes one’s existence selfishly irrational. Now multiply that by billions of people and hence you have the insane world that we live in; billions of people constantly thinking about themselves strictly for personal gain and self satisfaction. There’s no one to blame for this even though it arises from within each individual, it’s more so a result of the way humanity has evolved. From the mass murderer, to people pleasers, and those simply stuck on themselves, it’s the thinking mind that causes extreme emotional attachments and everything else in between. Sit often with the discernment of developing the ability to notice how much you think about yourself and you just may be able to settle in a place where your emotional attachments aren’t in control.
When emotional attachment hits an extreme level, the results are detrimental to one’s stability. This attachment is contingent on how much one is conditioned to think about themselves and it’s this constant thinking of “I” that manifest as emotional attachment. If you had love as the main influence in your life growing up, obviously you would love more than a person who had hate as their influence. Everything arises from inside of the individual so if you truly noticed the base of your actions, you may be able to alter those actions, maybe. Besides hoping and relying on divine intervention which will probably not occur, it will take awareness to allow the mind to settle so this attachment is noticed. You may even come to realize that life really isn’t about you, you just think it is.
