Doing is Our Undoing

Do whatever you think you need to do, but understand any doing is actually an undoing because it keeps the mind in a state of agitation, and as long as one needs to do, the created undoing remains in place…

It would be more beneficial if you learned to do less in your life because any doing is actually an undoing; it’s only when the mind settles that this undoing subsided. This is how it is with a mind that needs to do, doing is an agitation and the more that needs to be done, the cloudier the mind becomes; it’s very difficult to see clearly when one is caught in doing. A doing can be identified as any activity that you think is needed to make you complete; you see when the mind is settled there’s simply nothing to do. When the mind becomes agitated it has to do, and it becomes clouded as all kinds of stories are created about what’s needed to make you complete. Reading another book may be done, another 12 step meeting, another person to help, losing another pound, more money, and on an on. So many things are used when the mind becomes agitated and the truth is none of them are truly needed because you are as complete as you will ever be right now. In the clarity of a settled mind is our completeness.

Agitated stories are created and they keep the mind clouded because of the conditioning in place. Clarity will never last as long as one thinks there is something needed to do that will make you complete. Doing keeps the mind from settling so the more one needs to do the less clear things are. Do whatever you think you need to do, but understand there will never be clarity until there’s no need to do anything. Be the light, be the instrument to spread love, be whatever you want, but this doing is actually an undoing because it keeps the mind in a state of agitation. And as long as the mind is agitated and clouded by doing, your created undoing will remain in place and you will always have to do simply because you won’t know how not to.

Mind Captivity

Being dependent on anything but life’s essentials creates a bondage that one becomes captive to…this captivity is of the mind and blocks love’s guided energy…so you may be alive…but you never truly live…

A substance or object can seem like it holds you in captivity, but it’s your own mind that puts you in the place of needing to reach for something. Without the mind telling you something is needed, dependency on anything would be non existent. The subtleness of this captivity is mind boggling. Take an alarm clock as an example, as soon as the alarm rings if the snooze button is hit, instantly you are captive because the mind wants the moment to be in different. This is the way being captive works and if there isn’t awareness of this, it’s off to the races of being controlled by a Conditioned Mind that’s dependent on wanting things the way that it wants them.

This dependency and captivity takes on many forms: drugs, alcohol, and gambling usage, talking about others, eating habits, pouting or sulking, social status, being miserly (cheap), trying to control situations and people, judging, lust, greed, envy, self righteousness, false pride, and the list goes on, but what all these have in common is they’re the external solutions used by the Conditioned Mind to fix an internal problem of lack. Until something is done to allow the mind to settle, this lack will probably be there until the last day of your life in this form. If this happens life will never truly be experienced in the way that it could be. Some dependencies may not seem as devastating as others, but whatever is used it doesn’t allow love to be your guided energy. Life can’t be experienced from the captivity of your own mind and because of this, life will never be truly lived. Only love’s guided energy allows you to truly live and it’s only a binding dependency that holds you in captivity to your own mind and blocks this from occurring.

Universal Heart

In stillness all of life arises, and all of life is from the heart, but it’s not the energy of one heart, it’s the energy of the Universal heart, so find your inner stillness and you’ll find your Universal heart.

What does it mean to live from the heart? My take on this is living from the heart is a real place, and not only is it real it’s also the only place that a person will ever find true inner contentment. To experience this contentment the mind will have to settle to the point where you can see the differences between living from the heart and living from the mind. Both exist, it’s just that most people are conditioned to live from the mind; our thoughts make up our entire world. They form our belief systems and because they are strictly from the mind, thoughts become the base of our existence. I was discussing stillness the other day with someone and his response was, “I have to think, who am I without thinking.” This is humanity’s dilemma, we have been programmed to believe that we have to think and we are our thoughts; these thoughts control most people. This type of living is from the mind and unfortunately the heart gets locked out when existence is strictly from the mind.

When you can see through this mind chatter, you will start to experience what it means to live from your heart, but this isn’t a thought, it is purely a place of stillness. The experience of living from the heart can’t really be explained, it can only be experienced. It’s like trying to define love, any word used doesn’t really do it justice. It gets watered down trying to use words to describe it. Find your place of stillness and you will find your heart. It’s there, but you have to be completely willing to look inward if you are to experience it; a little stillness will not cut it. Only complete stillness will allow for the heart to overcome the mind. Develop discipline and maybe one day your heart will open to a world that goes beyond anything the mind can conjure up. In stillness all of life arises, and all of life is from the heart, but it’s not the energy of one heart, it’s the energy of the Universe. We are just a manifestation of the Universal Heart and it will only be in stillness that we will understand this from our own heart and experience living our life from here.

Uniqueness of the Moment

The uniqueness of each moment is a phenomenon unto itself. It just doesn’t seem this way because one doesn’t truly experience the moment, they just experience the noise between their ears.

Just be aware of what arise from the silence and how it just as quickly returns to the silence. Don’t label it as anything, just watch it arise and dissipate. Don’t attach to it, just watch, whatever arises now it’s there and then it sinks into the incoming moment. The same thing with a sensation, watch it arise, be with it and watch how it returns from whence it came. Imagine you are on the beach, just sitting watching the waves arising from the silence, breaking on the shore and then it’s gone, over and over. Occasionally a seagull will appear or people will pass by. The lifeguards blowing their whistles sitting at their stations, watching what arises and returns to the silence. A helicopter comes into view and disappears. These occurrences are stored in our subconscious and are given labels, breaking wave, seagull, people , helicopter, lifeguard and so on, but they all arise from the silence of the uniqueness known as the moment. Everything arises from here.

These are what becomes our memories; the moment when something arises will never happen again. Because we label everything it seems as though history repeats itself, but it doesn’t really, it only seems that way because of the attachment and label given to something; once a moment passes it’s gone forever. Why our behaviors are repeated over and over is because of attachment, but the uniqueness of the moment is a phenomenon unto itself. It just doesn’t seem this way because one doesn’t truly experience the moment, they just experience the noise of what’s going on between their ears.

Truth Sets You Free

Truth is never made up…it’s not something that can be held onto…it’s only known when it’s realized there’s nothing to know…as a matter of fact it’s in the not knowing that truth sets you free…

When truth arises it’s clear and here’s why: When I began to look into a different way to live my life, at the core of this looking was an urge. I didn’t know much about anything, but I did know something had to change. I did understand one thing, that my own mind was the cause as to why I was suffering so I set out to find out why this was and if it was possible to stop doing this. As this process of self inquiry proceeded, my view was slowly becoming different and as this happened my life became less and less about me. It didn’t become about anyone else, it just wasn’t all about fulfilling my wants and desires anymore; when this happens qualities associated with love naturally arise. This doesn’t mean everything goes the way that it’s wanted, it’s does mean it doesn’t matter how it goes because if it’s not all about me then there’s no story of wanting and needing things a certain way and without a story there’s no suffering.

Truth is difficult because it’s interpreted differently by everyone, but I have found truth in the space of what is; not what is itself, but in the space of what is. What is is given many labels depending on what’s occurring at the time. It can be horrible, beautiful, or neutral, the label doesn’t change what’s actually occurring. Being in the space of what’s occurring now changes it and that’s because without a label there’s only space. In this space there’s no story and without a story truth is revealed. It’s not a made up truth, it’s the truth of just being with what’s here right now and not needing to add a label or story to it. In this space is where one finds truth, but it has nothing to do with you or anyone else and this is when you will clearly see that truth sets you free…

Check In

Check what is said or what’s written before attaching onto the story “I” thinks it needs. Do it with everything heard or read and in this space of checking you will find not only freedom, but also truth…

So much is perceived as being true, it’s just because it has been in place and reinforced for so long, but that alone doesn’t make it true. It matters little who says what, it has to be checked if truth is to be revealed. There was a response by someone yesterday who said true to something written, I asked if it was checked before it was decided that it was true. I’m not even sure what he said true to, but it still needs to be checked if truth is to be revealed. See how the attachment to “I” is at the core of all beliefs which are just created stories that keep you in bondage; it will take much quietness to see this. All I’m saying is check what’s been written or said before holding onto it, even this.

The Conditioned Mind is so subtle so at times someone will write something that is seen differently, to me there is an obligation to at least share what’s been revealed to me. It doesn’t usually go over so well, but I know not to take it personal because of the fact “I” doesn’t like it when it’s told to look at itself. This is because it just may be discovered “I” isn’t needed, but the conditioning in place disguised as “I” will have to defend itself. I responded to something about forgiveness, to me the word forgiveness itself creates bondage. Everyone has a right to see things as they are conditioned, I just know in the present moment there’s just what’s there; nothing more. Anything added is a story and a story whether its given a title of forgiveness, grief, love, hate, or whatever, is an attachment to “I” that keeps one in bondage. This is my view and it has freed me from creating stories, but not many see this because not many check to see beyond “I”.

Life Merges into Itself

Life is continuous until the day that it’s not. It’s broken up into fragments because of the attachment to self. Without this attachment, life simply unfolds as it merges into itself.

The real issue one has with what happens in life is not with what actually happens, issues arise because of how there’s attachment to a self to that breaks life up into fragments. As long as one exist in their current form every moment of every day is simply life merging into itself. It becomes fragmented once it’s labeled by an attached self. This transformation of life from one continuous occurrence to fragments happens because of a self that labels it separately. If the self didn’t label life it would still occur, it just wouldn’t be separated into fragments. It would be one continuous occurrence without a self attaching to it and giving it the transforming energy it needs to become fragmented.

The self doesn’t cause issues, the attachment to it does. Life occurs regardless of the self, but what attachment does is it makes life personal. Life is neutral until it’s attached to, then it becomes dualistic. This will have to be investigated to see it. Until you know your self and how it’s at the root of separating life into fragments, there will never be freedom because there will always be attachment. Life occurs even when an individual’s existence is no more, it’s actually not partial to an individual existence, it’s only the attachment to self that makes it seem like it is. Everything that happens is viewed as separate because of attachment, but without this attachment life simply merges into itself as it becomes continuous and is simply allowed to unfold.

Wanting Energy

When your not looking to derive pleasure from an arisen want, the want loses its distracting grip, and without being controlled by want you’re able to be with what’s actually in front of you.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting in the sense where it’s good or bad, but because of wantings nature, the mind gets pulled into whatever want arises and you lose touch with what’s in front of you. Wanting can be draining because of the energy it needs. It’s one of the reasons why after certain wanting runs its course, there’s some guilt and remorse that follows. Giving into wanting takes a lot of energy, it’s an energy that can’t sustain itself, it needs constant reinforcement because the self that wants is never fulfilled. Love on the other hand is just the opposite, it needs nothing to sustain itself. It’s neither draining nor does it need reinforcement because it arises from stillness, as everything does. Think about it, everything arises from the energy of stillness and eventually that’s where it returns.

Fulfilling a want is very satisfying or it wouldn’t be so enticing, but because of the nature of want being fulfilled doesn’t last and more energy needs to be spent when more wanting arises. These wants usually occur one right after the other, some are glaring and some are subtle, so it’s difficult to really notice all the wants. The glaring ones seem to have more of an affect on life than the subtle ones, but make no mistake, wanting energy is all the same and it’s only there so “I” can be satisfied. I have found by not attaching to results it really helps in not being overcome by wants, as is the case with my writings. I write and that’s the end of it, it’s what’s in front of me so it’s what I do. When I’m not looking to derive pleasure from an arisen want, the want loses its control and without being controlled by it, I’m able to actually simply do what’s in front of me.

Space of Presence

If the noise in the head controls your life, it won’t stop because you have a belief in some power outside of you. Beliefs hinder the mind’s settling because they create a distraction to the space of presence…

If the noise in your head is controlling your life, it doesn’t really matter what’s going on as it’s going to be difficult to be in a place of peace. It’s such a noisy world and what makes it like this is most people are looking for an answer out there when the answer is within. What this head noise actually is and how it’s created is by not being aware you already have your answers; with a mind that’s conditioned to want answers you constantly have to look for them, hence the noise. This is how the agitation of a Conditioned Mind is formed and how it blocks awareness to the space of presence. If you knew you had the answers, the need to look for them would be non existent and so would the noise.

When you understand this, the noise will lessen and the space of presence will be experienced. If this isn’t understood, the noise will never stop; this is why it’s so important to understand this now. Why wait to be at peace later when you can be at peace right now. It’s not like the noise is needed to live life, it’s only there because you’re unconscious of it. Everyone has the ability to consciously do things that allow the removal of the noise in the head. It’s just not going to happen believing in something outside of you, but isn’t it beautiful that your peace is in your own hands and it’s totally up to you how much peace is brought into your life. A belief in some unforeseen power won’t make this happen, it’s up to you to do what’s necessary to stop the noise. As you practice the nose subsides and what’s left is the space of presence. If you’re waiting for anything else it’ll be for a very long time, actually it will probably not happen in this lifetime.

The Bottom Line

If you are to get to the bottom line of who you truly are, you will have to study the Conditioned Mind and becoming willing to sit so the process of peeling away your layers of conditioning begins.

Nothing will ever change as long as you continue to blame others and look outside yourself for answers. If you can’t get beyond all the conditioning that’s in place, getting to the bottom line of existence which requires nothing but being in its space will be just about impossible; this is only because the Conditioned Mind doesn’t allow it. Using the well known onion analogy: every onion has a base, but unless the onion is peeled it’s base will never be exposed. It will always be there as its a natural part of every onion, but without actually peeling the onion the base will remain hidden. The natural process of an onion is to cover its base, this is also the way human nature has evolved and because of this very few people ever get to the bottom line of existence.

Underneath all the conditioning is the bottom line of existence, there’s no blame and there’s no looking for answers anywhere but within this space. When one’s conditioning is peeled away one layer at a time, our base gets more exposed and one’s true nature takes hold, but if there isn’t awareness of this, nothing will change because it can’t. It’s like a force field is around the base and without awareness it seems as though it’s impenetrable, but take heed because it’s not impenetrable, it’s just going to take the studying of the Conditioned Mind and the willingness to begin the process of peeling away the layers of conditioning so you can get to the bottom line of who you truly are.

Object Perspective

If you can develop some awareness of inner stillness, the object perspective will have less control as your mind agitations also quiet. Without these agitations the need to reach for an object never arises…

If you’re always seeing life strictly from the objects the eyes see, those objects will be judged accordingly and what’s truly going on to form those judgments will not be noticed. Although with object minded attachments life still goes on, it’s very limiting to the degree of being purely superficial; this is said because it’s how I lived for forty nine years and it caused my life to be a constant struggle. The constant struggle was self created and controlled by the object perspective, although this wasn’t understood at the time. An object perspective is one where there is constant reaching and the reaching is caused by arisen mind agitations which aren’t seen. This is why someone will reach for anything without giving it much thought regardless if it’s beneficial or not. It’s in that moment regardless if it’s a benefit or not that the Conditioned Mind will dictate it is beneficial, but this is a big fat lie.

The object perspective will only be noticed when the busy mind stops its incessant busyness. One will have to be able to be present for the busyness to subside; you will not see the essence of the forest if the mind is busy being focused on the trees. This object perspective is strictly mind based. The reason it’s not conducive to one’s well being and it’s unstable is because there are so many objects to see, one right after another. This is why the big fat lie is in the forefront of most lives and stillness takes a back seat. If you can develop some awareness of inner stillness, less and less the object perspective will be in control because the mind agitations will subside. It will be at this point that the need to reach for an object will be no more and it will probably be the first time in your life that this has happened.

The Spark of Anger

No emotion arises on its own. Many things provide the spark for an emotion, but it’s always “I” energy that is at the core. No matter what happens an emotion can’t arise independent of ”I”.

No emotion arises on its own. There has to be a spark (attachment to “I”) for the emotion to arise. Many things provide the spark for this emotional attachment to take hold, but it’s always “I” energy that is at the core of any emotion. Take a look at the emotion of anger, it doesn’t exist on its own. No matter what happens, anger will never arise independent of ”I”. You cannot be angry without the attachment of “I” so in this case “I” provides the spark for anger to rear its ugly head. The thing about this is conditions have to be a certain way that allows anger, without the conditions being a certain way, anger would never arise; it couldn’t.

Using the example of a forest fire, it too needs conditions to be a certain way for it to ignite; it needs air, heat, and fuel. A forest fire just can’t happen without one of these elements. It needs a spark first of all plus it needs the other two elements in order for the spark to ignite. The same spark wouldn’t even be an issue if it just rained so a forest fire is contingent on conditions being a certain way in order for there to be a fire. This is no difference with emotions, in this case anger. Something happens and the spark of anger is ignited by “I”. If there wasn’t an attachment to “I” prior to something happening, the spark would fizzle out. It would be as if it was raining in the forest; you never hear of forest fires in the rain forest and that’s because conditions simply don’t allow it. Anger is being used here, but this is the way it is with any emotion. Without certain conditions being met there may be a spark, but if “I” isn’t the energy in play, the emotion simply will never arise.

Emotional Attachment

Emotional attachment is contingent on how much one is conditioned to think about themselves and it’s this constant thinking of “I” that doesn’t really provide much of a benefit.

The true addiction of our society is to our thinking and when you are the main subject of that thinking, it makes one’s existence selfishly irrational. Now multiply that by billions of people and hence you have the insane world that we live in; billions of people constantly thinking about themselves strictly for personal gain and self satisfaction. There’s no one to blame for this even though it arises from within each individual, it’s more so a result of the way humanity has evolved. From the mass murderer, to people pleasers, and those simply stuck on themselves, it’s the thinking mind that causes extreme emotional attachments and everything else in between. Sit often with the discernment of developing the ability to notice how much you think about yourself and you just may be able to settle in a place where your emotional attachments aren’t in control.

When emotional attachment hits an extreme level, the results are detrimental to one’s stability. This attachment is contingent on how much one is conditioned to think about themselves and it’s this constant thinking of “I” that manifest as emotional attachment. If you had love as the main influence in your life growing up, obviously you would love more than a person who had hate as their influence. Everything arises from inside of the individual so if you truly noticed the base of your actions, you may be able to alter those actions, maybe. Besides hoping and relying on divine intervention which will probably not occur, it will take awareness to allow the mind to settle so this attachment is noticed. You may even come to realize that life really isn’t about you, you just think it is.

Focused on Love

When your focus is aligned with love, there’s a deep seeded love for all beings, not because it’s wanted, but because this is simply the way love rolls when one’s focus is aligned with love.

Having clear and precise focus on love is worth more than all the books combined on what it means to be spiritual, and why this is so is because your clarified focus is yours and the content of any book is someone else’s. Someone else’s idea of you will never be you no matter if their way is copied exactly. This is why many remain in the struggle because they’re focused on trying to be someone else’s idea of who they should be. You can use books, methods, programs and whatnot as a tool, but the focus of why you do what you do will need to be reflected upon to see if your focused results are aligned with love. Not your story of love, but the love that arises not from effort, but from the focus of your inner alignment. This is where effort is useless if it’s not focused on being aligned with love; only being focused on love will suffice.

There are as many spiritual books out there as there are people, but everyone who reads a book and practices doesn’t necessarily wake up. Why do you think this is so? It’s because the focus isn’t of the necessary energy that allows the alignment to a loving heart. Love focus needs to be seen if there is to be harmony with all beings. This doesn’t mean a person won’t harm or unpleasant things won’t happen to you, but it’s less likely you will put yourself in those type of situations with being focused on a loving heart. In the space of stillness one learns to focus on love and in the process are aligned with love. When this occurs one will love all beings, not because you want to, but because this is the way love rolls when your focus is aligned with love.

It's Just Life

If you can truly get beyond the story of needing a purpose to life and just be in the stillness of the moment, your purpose to life and to humanity will be beyond anything you could make up as being needed.

There’s nothing one can truly do to gain more self-worth because that would mean things would need to be different in order for you to be complete, and this just isn’t so. If you aren’t complete as you are, you have to ask yourself why that is. Putting out completeness energy is all life and humanity needs. If something else is needed, your purpose to humanity basically becomes non existent, your energy becomes that of taking. I know we all see things as the conditioning in place dictates, but the nonsense of taking energy puts one in the position to be controlled like a puppet on a string. Even when it’s thought to be completeness energy, it takes a very settled mind to see if this is truly so.

This is not to say don’t help others or do loving things, the key is to not attach to it, that’s what I’m talking about. The world is as it is and I’m not really sure if it’s suppose to be this way or not, but I do know in the space of stillness one life (mine) has transformed. If I died tomorrow the world will go on. There won’t be a legacy left behind as this or that, I just do what the Universe revealed to me and that is that. In this space is completeness energy where there is peace which is impossible to explain. If you can truly get beyond the story of a needing a purpose to life and just be in the stillness of the moment, your purpose to life and to humanity will be beyond anything you could make up as being needed.
